Tony Harris

Software Developer: Over 25 years experience developing software and databases; building applications performing a wide variety of tasks from designing sewerage systems, governing railways, full ERP systems and international banking systems to web sites for Business to Business referrals.   Tony has worked on multiple Government projects developing and maintaining business structures, change management and financial systems for local and international Governments.

Specialties: multiple software languages, database design, application user interface design, application usability design, idea and story development, problem solving, customer liaison, software project management, GIS design and development, Object oriented languages, robotics.

Author: Computer Textbooks on Software design and engineering, computer games, languages and database design.

Children’s stories – multiple series on Australian Animals.  These hardcover and electronic books have sold over 10,000 copies in 32 countries.  The books have been used by Pre-schools, Kindergartens, Primary Schools, Special Ed classes and Speech Pathologists.  The stories have been supplied to Children’s Cancer clinics and used by nurses in Stroke Recovery wards to help patients recover.

International Teacher and Convention Speaker: Since 1983 Tony has spoken at many Engineering, Computer, Science, Literary and Educational conventions. Tony has spoken at the BEA in New York, at the Beijing International Book Fair and conducted workshops at several Australian Tertiary Institutes, the most recent being the University of Canberra. In 2014, Tony presented papers on child literacy at the World Literary Summit at Oxford University. 
 In 2015, 
he travelled to and presented papers on literacy and on aquaponics agriculture in Bhutan.  Also in 2015,  Tony was invited to present ideas and discussions on “Literacy in Asia” at the International Conference in Macau.  At the request of the US Secretary for State-Education,  Tony attended a conference at the Sinte Gleska University in South Dakota to work with the Wolakota Project on recovering the languages of that area.

Tony has conducted courses, classes and workshops in Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Philippines, China, Kenya, USA & UK.

 Maintenance management in heavy industry, light industry, custom manufacturing and mining.
Mechanical and Environmental engineering for BHP, Tubemakers of Australia, Western Mining, WA Water, VicRail, National Springs. GW Engineering and others.

Production and Quality Consultant: On production systems for manufacturing, underground mining, open cut mines, small and large manufacturing and jobbing shops.

Production Engineer: Overseeing development of new technologies in cars, mass production lines, lighting and plastics.

Quality Engineer: For Australian spring manufacturers working on automotive and rail systems.  Conducting training courses for large engineering firms around Australia
